Computers

I used to have a computer page in place here, but I decided that most of the generic stuff was just that, generic. You could get it all somewhere else.

So I've re-done it a little, getting rid of the generic computer stuff and replacing it with a more or less Linux specific page. I do have a few things that I'll throw in from my old page, though, because I still have something of an ego.

Linux

Linux is, as you already know, quite an astounding phenomenon. Able to do anything almost, and most things amazingly. I've been kicking versions of Linux around since version .98, in the days of the MCC distribution, and all I can say is that it is amazing how little has changed.

I can just see people who have happened upon this page saying to themselves:

OK, schlucko, what's reading your page gonna do for me?

The problem is, there is almost nothing that needs doing that somebody isn't almost done with.

So I will break this page down into a few sections. Things that I like, things that I would like, and places to get info.

A note about Linux Distributions.
Linux Distributions have become something akin to shit. Everybody thinks theirs smells sweetest. I am sure there are benefits to one distribution over another, and I suppose that folks will have a natural predisposition towards certain distributions, based on their experience and goals, but the minute one of those distributions becomes and stays truly different, we will have lost something special.

Note: To the best of my ability, I'm going to restrict myself to free stuff. I cannot complain about people making money with Linux, heck, I've made more than a couple of bucks with it myself, but the free part is what still holds the magic.

Cool, existing, and worth looking at

Cool, but nobody has done it (that I know of)
